Happy Sunday families,

I hope you all have had a wonderful week. Our grade 1's have had a busy exciting week of learning. Huge thank you to the PAC for organizing the Spring dance I know this was a highlight in our room. Thank you to those kiddos who remembered that it is library on Wednesdays. Another shout out to the kids who continue to participate in our home reading decodable program.

One of our highlights this week in our class was learning about Spring and the Seasonal Changes. Our learning intentions for this are;

🌷 SPRING & SEASONAL CHANGES – “I Can” Statements
🌎 Understanding Seasons
  • I can name the four seasons.
  • I can tell how spring is different from other seasons.
  • I can describe what happens in spring.

🌱 Changes in Nature
  • I can observe changes in plants in spring.
  • I can notice how animals change or move in spring.
  • I can describe how the weather changes in spring.

☀️ Daylight & the Spring Equinox (simplified)
  • I can notice that days are getting longer.
  • I can tell that day and night can be the same length in spring.
  • I can observe changes in sunlight during the day.

👀 Scientific Observation
  • I can observe and talk about changes I see outside.
  • I can draw and record what I notice about spring.
  • I can compare what is the same and different from winter to spring.

💬 Communication & Thinking
  • I can share my ideas about spring using words and pictures.
  • I can ask questions about changes in spring.
  • I can explain what I notice in my environment.

🌸 Cross-Curricular (ELA + Art Connections)
  • I can write about what I see in spring.
  • I can add details to my drawing to show spring changes.
  • I can create art that shows spring colours and patterns.

Signs that Spirng is in the air!

See you tomorrow morning friends!
