💛 Welcome Back, Grade 1 friends!

Hello Grade 1 friends! and family, I hope you all had a lovely and safe Halloween and a nice weekend together.

I am so happy to be back together at school! I've missed learning, laughing, and growing with you all. This week, we spent time reconnecting, having fun, and remembering our classroom routines. We focused on sharing stories about what we did while we were away, worked together on some Halloween-themed activities, and practiced being kind, caring classmates to each other.

We talked about the importance of being a team, and that our classroom is a place where everyone belongs, learns, and shines. We made our first few days full of smiles, curiosity, and teamwork as we settle back into our Grade 1 adventures!

I am so proud of how flexible and patient you’ve been — I can’t wait to learn with you again and get back to making some great memories together this year.

Some of our learning intentions we focused on were in, Visual Arts (Creating and Communicating Through Visual Art)

  • I can use shapes, lines and colours to create a picture of myself.
  • I can add details to show who or what I am in my costume.
  • I can show my ideas and feelings through my drawing.
  • I can use different materials carefully when I create art.
  • I can talk about my artwork and share what it shows.
ELAL Connections (Expressing and Developing Ideas Through Writing).
  • I can write about my ideas using words and pictures.
  • I can sound out words to write my sentence.
  • I cam share my writing with others and talk about what I wrote.
Oral Language and Thinking (Sharing, Listening, and Understanding Ideas).

  • I can share my ideas about Halloween with my classmates during sharing circle.
  • I can listen carefully when others share their ideas.
  • I can make connections between my ideas and what others say.

Also a huge thank you to the amazing parents for organizing the welcome back treats and snack cart for the teachers this week. We truly love your support and appreciate you all!

Just a reminder for the week, Tuesday is fun lunch and Wednesdays are our Library days.

See you all tomorrow, Ms. Craik 💛
