Happy Sunday Grade 1 families,
I hope you had a lovely weekend together! I look forward to seeing you at conferences this week. As each conference is a 15 minute timed block, please come at your scheduled time so we can stay on schedule for all families. Reminder that there is no school on Friday.
Thank you to the parents who organized our mashed potato bar this week, that was a delicious treat for us!
The students were excited for their first week with Mr. B in gym and looking forward to a great year ahead with him.
One of our learning intentions this week was:
Science (observing fall seasonal changes):
- I can notice how the weather changes in fall (cooler air, windy days).
- I can describe how leaves change colour and fall from trees.
- I can observe how animals get ready for winter in fall.
- I can talk about what plants look like in fall.
- I can describe how daylight changes in fall (shorter days, longer nights).
- I can explain how I dress in fall to stay warm.
- I can notice how the environment around my school changes in fall.
- I can explain how we care for the land in fall (not stepping on plants, leaving nature as it is).
- I can share ways my family or community celebrates or notices fall.
- I can use describing words to tell what I see, hear, and feel in fall.
- I can draw and write to show a fall changes I observed.
- I can ask questions about what I notice during fall.
